NICOLE B. JAMES was born in Houston, Texas, in 1980. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 2002 and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in 2005. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas.

While at South Texas, Ms. James was a director of South Texas Board of Advocates. She earned membership to the Order of Barristers in 2005. Ms. James was also a Student Bar Association Class Representative in 2002. She received an American Jurisprudence Award in 2002 for obtaining the highest grade in her Legal Research and Writing course.

Ms. James was a member of three varsity appellate advocacy teams, including the William B. Spong, Jr. National Moot Court Competition where her team won first place and received the Best Brief award, the Texas Young Lawyers Association State Moot Court Competition where her team argued before the Texas Supreme Court, won first place and received the Best Brief award, and the National Moot Court Competition sponsored by the Association of the Bar of the City of New York where at the regional level her team won first place and received a best brief award. This brief was published in the Association of the Bar of the City of New York Law Journal. As a result of Ms. James’ active involvement in the South Texas Advocacy Program, she was honored with the T. Gerald Treece “Heart of the STCL Advocacy Program” Award.
